  Years before the invention of photography, and a long  time before the  fashionable and glamorous  portraits of   Irving Penn and Mario Testino, Giovanni Boldini was one of the most  famous portrait  painters of the ''celebrities'' of his time.He was born in Italy,but moved in Paris during the Belle Epoque. Boldini mostly painted  wealthy ,fashionably dressed women,in a very alluring and glamorous way. Flamboyant themes, diagonal, sharp and edgy brushstrokes,vivid and bright colors ,beautifully depicted materials, created a dazzling, extravagant and dramatic result.
